- Medical impairment or disability
- Age

In Germany, only half (49%) of students with impairments or disabilities consider their financial circumstances secure, compared to 70% of students without health problems.
Age has an impact as well: only 43% of students over 30 consider their financial situation secure.
81% of students from families with a “high” level of educational attainment feel finanically secure – compared to only 51% of students from families with a “low” level of education.
By way of this factor, international heritage has an indirect impact on financial security because students statistically defined as having a “migration background” are more likely (27% versus 9%) to come from families with a “low” level of education and less likely to be from families with a “medium” educational level (but similarly likely to be children of university graduates).
Among students with a “migration background” (42%) or medical impairments/disabilities (23%), financial issues are more likely than average (16%) to be the reason for dropping out of university.
